There’s an old claim in the frequent travel game that, on a mile-by-mile basis, Heathrow Express tickets are more expensive than travelling to the moon. While that probably won’t withstand scientific scrutiny, what is certain is that for years they have been comically expensive for a 15 minute journey.
Mercifully, Heathrow Express continues to review (and reduce) its pricing. First, it introduced a number of offers, including savings for two travelling together and kids travelling free. Next, there came huge savings on advance tickets (although note the revisions in fares subsequent to this article, as set out here).
Heathrow Express has now introduced a summer sale, offering 30% off its fares in both Standard and Business First Class for tickets bought up to and including 31 August, 2016.
This takes the cost of a Standard Class return ticket down to £25 from £36, while a Business First Class return ticket is £38, down from £54.
While this is very good news for people with travel coming up soon, if you are booking well in advance, you may well be able to get a cheaper advance ticket.
Don’t forget that children aged 15 years and under travel free with an accompanying adult (aged 18+).
Note also that you will collect Heathrow Rewards points at a rate of 1 per £1 on this travel, which can be converted to air miles or Heathrow Airport shopping vouchers.
The full terms and conditions of the Heathrow Express Summer Sale are available here.
