I just realised that I had forgotten to post about this and the deadline to book is now tomorrow (30th June) – so apologies for the short notice! Fortunately, the offer is quite simple and quite brilliant – 50% discount off IHG Hotels in Europe.
There are some really exceptional deals to be had (and I’ll point out a few that caught my eye below).
You can take a look at the list of participating hotels here, but basically there’s loads all over Europe
Terms and Conditions
Offer available for reservations made by 30th June 2016, for stays between 20th June 2016 to 7th September 2016
Minimum stay of 2 nights is required
Bookings must be made at least 5 days in advance of first night of stay.
The 50% is off the Best Flexible Rate, but these reservations are nonrefundable so the actual discounts are less than 50% but still excellent.
Officially, the offer is available for stays on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (with some limited midweek availability), but I’ve seen lots of midweek availability in most of the cities I’ve checked.
Member ID or IHG voucher will be required at check-in as proof of eligibility for this offer. The offer is in partnership with Avis, and you should probably print off and fill in one of these forms. I’ve only ever been asked for one of these partner forms once when booking a partner rate, but better safe than sorry
IMPORTANT NOTE: Discounts off IHG hotels of more than 30% have not usually attracted Points or counted as ‘qualifying stays’ in the past, which means that when IHG have had similarly generous offers previously it hasn’t been a cheap way to hit your ‘Accelerate’ (or whatever IHG’s quarterly promotion was called at the time) targets.
That said, when I’ve done some dummy bookings this time, it is showing the number of Points earned for the stay on the final booking screen – and that is usually a good indicator of whether a stay is qualifying or now.
In other words, these stays may post as qualifying or they may not. Don’t rely on it, but it might be a nice bonus!
How good is the discount off IHG hotels?
I’ve been looking to book a few nights in Europe anyway this summer, so the following caught my eye.
I already mentioned the Intercontinental Berlin (very nice hotel by the way!) for ~£45.00 per night rather than the normal price of £72.50 for the dates I checked, but it’s also worth pointing out that the discount applies to Club rooms too.
A Club Superior room is £82.55 rather than £131.97.
Other Berlin bargains include the Crowne Plaza Potsdamer Platz for £37.00 rather than £60.00, the Holiday Inn Berlin City East Side for £37.00 rather than £54.00, or the Holiday Inn Berlin City Centre East-Prenzlauer for a ludicrous £26.50 rather than £45.00!
Outside of Germany, I noticed you can get the Intercontinental Prague for as little as £50.00.
In Paris, you can get the Intercontinental Marceau for ~ £100.00, or the Intercontinental Le Grand for under £150.00.
The reductions might not work out at exactly 50%, but if you are looking for a discount off IHG hotels. they are very substantial and well worth having a look at!
