Until close of play on 20 May, hotel “miles-for-booking” site Rocketmiles is offering a straightforward 1,000 bonus Avios points to anyone (i.e. new or existing customer) who books for the first time via their Android or iOS (Apple) app.
You can download on Android here, and iOS here. To benefit from the bonus Avios points, you then need to use the Rocketmiles promo code APPBONUS on the app.
If you are not familiar with it, like PointsHound and Kaligo, Rocketmiles awards you air miles for hotel bookings. You then choose one of a number of airline frequent flyer programmes (including Avios, AAdvantage and Etihad Guest) to credit your miles to. Customers earn an average (apparently) of 5000 miles on each hotel booking.
While you need to book by 20 May to benefit from the bonus Avios points, there are no restrictions on when the stay needs to be made.
You will of course earn the 1,000 bonus Avios points in addition to the standard miles you earn for your stay.
You can earn miles in the following programmes through Rocketmiles:
- Air Canada – Aeroplan
- Airberlin – Topbonus
- Alaska Airlines – MileagePlan
- Alitalia – MilleMiglia
- American Airlines – AAdvantage
- Amtrak Guest Rewards
- Avianca – LifeMiles
- Azul – TudoAzul
- Cathay Pacific – Asia Miles
- Avios
- British Airways – Executive Club
- AeroMexico – Club Premier
- Etihad Airways – Etihad Guest
- Finnair Plus
- Frontier – EarlyReturns
- Hawaiian Miles
- Icelandair – Saga
- JetBlue – TrueBlue
- Jetairways – JetPrivilege
- Malaysia Airlines – Enrich
- Oman Air – Sinbad
- Qatar Airways – Privilege Club
- Royal Jordanian – Royal Plus
- Saudia – Alfursan
- Singapore Airlines – KrisFlyer
- South African Airways – Voyager
- Southwest Airlines – Rapid Rewards
- Turkish Airlines – Miles&Smiles
- United Airlines – MileagePlus
- Virgin America – Elevate
- Virgin Atlantic – Flying Club
The key value with Rocketmiles is largely in the sign-up bonuses. Standard bookings may offer some value when you factor in the miles, but it is essential that you compare the cost with a direct booking, or booking through the likes of lastminute.com etc.
If your room is substantially cheaper elsewhere without the miles, it’s unlikely to be a value offering to go with Rocketmiles. One clear word of warning: you are very unlikely to earn any loyalty scheme benefits on stays booked through Rocketmiles.
The terms for this specific app offer are as follows:
Qualifying Activity: This offer is limited to Rocketmiles customers making their first app booking with this specific promotional code: “APPBONUS” on the Rocketmiles app by 11:59PM CT on May 20, 2016. Limit one per customer. Limit one per stay. Rocketmiles reserves the right to retract a bonus at any time if it detects technical errors, cancel/rebooking activity, or any deceptive behavior attempted to circumvent the limits expressed above including multiple accounts. Promotional offer cannot be applied to existing bookings, retroactively applied to bookings not made using the promo code above or combined with any other offers. Promotion cannot be redeemed through Norwegian Reward, Amazon.com Gift Cards, Rakuten Super Points, airberlin topbonus, or American Airlines Business Extra®.
