We have previously sung the praises of Lufthansa’s monthly “Mileage Bargains” offer, which let’s you redeem your Lufthansa Miles&More loyalty miles at roughly half the usual redemption rates.
The real value with Lufthansa’s Mileage Bargains are in the Business Class redemptions. While you will have to pay a fairly hefty tax/fee supplement, you will get great value for your miles – making the overall redemption very competitive value.
This month (February) offers a fairly sparse selection of long haul Business Class options, but with Panama City and Bogota included, those that are available are certainly interesting.
The full range of long haul Business Class options from the UK this month are:
- Dubai (was 70k now 40k miles)
- Toronto (was 105k now 55k miles)
- Panama City (was 120k now 60k miles)
- Bogota (was 135k now 70k miles)
- Qingdao (no, we haven’t heard of it either) (was 135k now 70k miles)
There’s also a range of Business Class flights offered from Aberdeen only, all of which are at an impressive 20K (rather than 45K) miles:
It’s also worth having a look at some of the Economy short haul options offered this month by Lufthansa and its Miles&More partners Lot, Austrian and Swiss: all of which are pricing at 10,000 miles, rather than 30,000:
As noted above, Mileage Bargains are particularly attractive given the notoriously heavy taxes Lufthansa imposes on its reward flights: when you’re using half the miles you would otherwise expect to use, this is much easier to swallow.
Check your particular flight, but in the majority of cases you need to book by 29 February 2016, and fly between 1 April and 15 May 2016.
