Hilton Honors (formerly Hilton HHonors) is somewhat unique in terms of hotel loyalty programs, in that it lets you earn both hotel points and airline miles at the same time, if you so choose! As well as that, they often run bonus promotions with certain airlines, offering even more miles than usual.

This time, it’s Avios that’s up for the bonus, which is rather handy for those of us based in the UK who make heavy use of BA redemption! Until 30 April, 2017 you can earn up to quadruple Avios when you stay at participating Hilton Hotels globally. With a possible slight catch or two…. To sign up for this offer, you need to head to this Hilton Honors registration page, then enter your login details to register. While you’re at it, make sure you’re signed up for the main Hilton Honors 2000 bonus points per night/stay promotion too!

Next, you need to ensure that your account is set to Points and Miles (not Points and Points), and that you’ve got BA picked as your preferred airline. You can change both of those in the Edit Preferences section of your account, which wants to look something like this:

There is, however, a small snag to this offer (plus a few that don’t actually apply!). The main one isn’t too unusual for a quadruple points promotion: Double Avios is applicable for stays booked and completed at the Participating Properties on any second stay during the promotional period. Triple Avios is applicable a third stay booked and completed with within the promotional period, and quadruple Avios is applicable on any fourth and more stays during the promotional period. In simple terms, first stay gets normal Avios, second stay double, third stay triple, and only your forth+ stays get quadruple Avios. That means you need to be doing quite a few stays to take advantage of this offer. 3 stays, in fact.

(For complicated historic reasons, crediting to British Airways as Avios gets you 1 avios per $ spent, but crediting to Iberia Plus as Avios gets you 1.5 avios per $ spent, but with a lower limit on the maximum amount you can earn. Someone doing 2 stays would get the same by crediting to Iberia as using this promotion)

The biggest snag is something we haven’t seen with these bonus offers before, and something we’re not sure if Hilton are actually enforcing. The T&Cs state: Offer available for new bookings made via Honors.com/BAQ12017 between 1 February 2017 and 30 April 2017 for stays from 1 February 2017 until the 30 April 2017. So, in theory, it only applies to new bookings, and only new bookings at the special link Update February 2017 – Hilton aren’t enforcing this rule, see our new article for more details

Will this new rule about the special booking period and site be enforced? We’re not sure. It hasn’t been on past offers, but this one could be different. It’ll take at least a fortnight for anyone to find out….

If that all seems to risky / complicated for you, there’s another potentially interesting Hilton Honors offer going. Via this registration link with American Airlines, you can get 500 bonus AA miles per night (expensive brands) / stay (cheap brands), in addition to the usual miles you’ll earn. If you can earn enough AA miles to use, then this might be a safer + better bet. The AA offer runs until March 27, 2017.
