InsideFlyer’s Goffe recently had the chance to check out the DoubleTree by Hilton in Wroclaw, Poland. This is his review:
A few months ago, during one of my train journeys through Europe, I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Wroclaw. I could have chosen to pay with cash for this stay, but I preferred to spend 30,000 Hilton Honors points. A room would easily cost over €150.
Check-in
After a rather long day on the train, I arrived at Wrocław Glovny station around 8:00 PM. From there, it’s a 15-minute walk to the hotel. The building looks very new and modern, both inside and out. When I chatted with the receptionist a little later, she told me the hotel is eight years old.
During check-in, I was warmly welcomed as a Hilton Honors Gold member. Although I don’t stay at Hilton hotels very often these days, I’ve been able to maintain this status thanks to my American Express Platinum card. I’ll come back to the benefits of this later. Incidentally, the hotel lobby, with its attractive lighting, also looks very modern.

The receptionist told me that, despite my Gold status, I unfortunately hadn’t been upgraded to a better room. This was because everything was already fully booked and I arrived quite late. However, she did grant me access to the Executive Lounge because of my status, especially since this was my first time at the hotel. Unfortunately, the lounge was already closed. I was able to check it out the next day.

After visiting the bar, I later went upstairs armed with my room key.
Lobby & Bar
The bar also features nice lighting, which looked stylish and modern. A wide variety of items were available at the bar.

Thanks to my Gold status I received a voucher for a local Polish beer, and was offered the famous DoubleTree cookie too.

That certainly tasted good after a day of trains and lots of walking. The lobby had a pleasant atmosphere.
Standard King Room
Then I took the elevator to the first floor where my room was located.

I stayed in room 172, which turned out to be a Standard King Room. The room also looked very new and modern. In the centre, I found a comfortable king-size bed with two lamps on either side. Above the bed, there’s a decoration on the wall.

Opposite the bed, you’ll find a wall-mounted television. Below the television are coffee and tea facilities and I also found two bottles of water. There was a minibar underneath, but it was empty.

To the left of the television, you’ll find the desk. This is essentially an extension of the table beneath the television. While not very large, it offers plenty of space for work. You’ll also find a comfortable office chair, a desk lamp, and a mirror on the wall. Behind the desk is another, more comfortable chair with a small round table.

Immediately to the right of the entrance is a closet containing, among other things, an ironing board, storage for clothes, a safe, and bathrobes.

When I opened the curtains the next morning, I was surprised by the view of the courtyard.

I looked out onto the area where the lobby and bar were located. So you can see that it’s quite open.
Bathroom
The bathroom was spacious and spotless. There was no bathtub, but the rain shower was great. Soap and shampoo were GrabTree.

The shower provided a good spray and thankfully didn’t fluctuate constantly in temperature.

Executive Lounge
The next morning, I decided to check out what the Executive Lounge had to offer. I was so early that it hadn’t opened yet. This gave me the opportunity, as the first guest of the day, to take some photos.
Upon entering the lounge, you immediately find yourself in what feels like a living room. It’s a cosy space where you can enjoy a snack and a drink.

If you turn left immediately after entering, you’ll find yourself at the buffet.

The breakfast buffet wasn’t set up yet, but I was advised to have breakfast in the large breakfast room because there would be more choice. Besides some snacks, the buffet also offers a coffee machine and a selection of cold drinks. There’s also fruit further down.

Breakfast
I was definitely impressed with breakfast. The breakfast room is located next to the bar on the ground floor. You can enjoy a delicious buffet there from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM. Because I have Gold status, breakfast was included for free.

The buffet offers a wide selection of dishes. For example, you’ll find a bakey section with a choice of croissants, baguettes, pain au chocolat, and baguettes. Further on, you’ll find a wide variety of toppings, including various cheeses and ham, as well as a variety of vegetables and salads.

You can also enjoy pancakes and waffles. I was very pleased with the service. There were plenty of staff around, and I was regularly asked if everything was good and if I needed anything else.

Other facilities
Of course, this DoubleTree by Hilton also offers other amenities. On the ground floor, you’ll find a souvenir shop and a fitness room.

More information about the hotel’s facilities can be found on the hotel’s website . After a pleasant stay, I checked out around 10:00 AM and enjoyed a stroll through Wrocław’s beautiful city centre, before heading to the station.
