Is it Worth It?

The Public Sector Discount rates are often a little bit cheaper than the standard non-refundable rates on offer. The notable difference is that you should also receive complimentary breakfast. For Blue and Silver members, the inclusion of breakfast can be quite valuable. Even Gold members might prefer to book a breakfast-included rate in order to choose 1,000 points as their “My Way” benefit. It’s also worth remembering that some Hilton brands – such as Hampton – already provide breakfast to all guests.

Unless your plans are very firm or you have a very good travel insurance policy, you probably should still pass on the small savings and simply book a flexible rate.

But I Don’t Work in the Public Sector…

Several years ago, I used this rate plan several times and was never asked for identification. However, people have been embarassingly caught out by an ID request upon check-in.  YMMV…
