What about luggage?

For the cheapest ‘Saver’ fares, “customers are allowed to travel with a 10kg carry-on bag and a small personal item (handbag or laptop bag)”.

If you want to check in luggage, you might be best booking a ‘Smart’ fare instead for another £100 return.

Bottom line

~£250 for direct return flights to New York from Manchester on a ‘full service’ airline is a very good deal. If you credited the flights to BA Executive Club, you would earn ~1,650 Avios.
