IHG Rewards has announced details of the promotion that will run from 1st October until 31st December 2021. Members can earn:
- NO BONUS for their first stay (annoying as always)
- Double points for their second stay (i.e. an additional ~13.5 points per £1 / 10 points per $1 spent)
- Triple points for every subsequent stay (i.e. an additional ~27 points per £1 / 20 points per $ spent)
Heavy spenders should be made aware of the fact that you can earn a maximum of 70,000 bonus points.

Because of the “no bonus for first stay” proviso, it is worth reminding readers that any consecutive nights at the same hotel are considered to be a single stay, no matter how many separate reservations you make or how many times you check out and check in again.
It is also worth noting that you must spend a minimum of ~£22 ($30 on your room rate for your stay to qualify. Reward stays, and Points + Cash stays do NOT qualify either.
Bottom Line
I tend to avoid promotions that offer no incentive for the first stay. However, if you have an expensive IHG stay planned for this autumn, you may want to squeeze in a couple of cheap stays in order to ensure that you receive triple points on the expensive stay
