One of Nectar’s many “partner” brands, Esso, is currently offering a bonus 1,000 Nectar points (worth £5) when you fill up with at least 20 litres of fuel. Given the effective price this reduces a 20 litre top up to, it’s well worth considering.

To benefit, you need to go to nectar.com and load the offer to your Nectar card, then swipe your Nectar card when you pay. The offer applies to your first 20 (or more) litre fill-up only, and runs until 28 April, 2021.

Standard points-earning, too

Bear in mind you’ll also get the standard Nectar points on the spend, which is 1 point per litre of fuel and 2 points per £1 spent in the service station. You’ll also get 3 points per litre when you fill up with premium fuel (I believe “premium” is stated on the pump, if you’re in any doubt) until 25 May.

With unleaded prices at Esso at around £1.24 a litre, a 20 litre fill-up would therefore cost you £24.80, but you’d get an effective rebate of £5.20, taking the total to £19.60 or around 0.98 pence a litre on a 20 litre fill-up.
