As part of its “at-home experiences” during lockdown, American Express is offering an interesting night in on Saturday 20 March to its Amex Gold card holders, called “Cook with the Stars”.
Simply sign up for free via this link and you will be treated to:
- Michelin-starred Jason Atherton (main course and sides) and “feel-good food champion” (I’ve no idea either) Melissa Hemsley (dessert) showing you how to prepare the evening’s dishes via pre-recorded videos
- The two chefs then ‘joining’ you for dinner via a live Q&A session hosted by Masterchef judge William Sitwell.
Note that the Q&A is properly interactive, and you will be able to send your questions to William. I’m not sure what the likely attendance for this event will be, but clearly the likelihood of your question actually being asked will depend on numbers (and your question).
Once signed up, you will receive the recipe in advance to enable you to shop for the (apparently) easy-to-find ingredients.
Is this worth your time?
If I’m honest, I’ve been a touch underwhelmed by the Amex “at-home experiences” to date – they’ve basically amounted to videos that you could source millions of equivalents of on YouTube. However, the interactive nature of the dining here gives it some genuine appeal. I’d give it a go.
Plus, you may just be a fan of Jason Atherton, and with poses like this, who could blame you?
Not an Amex Gold cardholder?
If you’re new to “travel hacking” or points and miles and are looking for an easy starting point, there’s no better credit card than the Amex Gold. In addition to various travel-related perks such as hotel status, you’ll get 22,000 Membership Reward points (worth 22,000 Avios) as a sign-up bonus. Plus, you’ll get the occasional invite to dinner with celebrity chefs…
