British Airways is set to suspend all flights from London Gatwick Airport, as well as consolidate all flights to/from Heathrow into Terminal 5.
The airline released a statement explaining that,
“Due to the considerable restrictions and challenging market environment, like many other airlines, we will temporarily suspend our flying schedule at Gatwick,”
Gatwick Airport was already planning to close its North Terminal from tomorrow, but it’s difficult to see the South Terminal (which BA uses) staying open for much longer given the huge reduction in flights, including from other airlines that have already grounded their fleets.
London City Airport has already closed and there are even reports that the Government is considering using Heathrow Terminal 5 as a temporary coronavirus hospital.
