InsideFlyer is primarily focused on travel of course, but rumour has it that many readers (and writers…) also share a love of champagne. With the festive season about to begin, and with the supermarkets desperately trying to undercut each other, I thought I’d put together a quick list of the best places to stock up. If you think I’ve missed a deal, don’t hesitate to let me know in the comments!
The following prices are all for standard size bottles of Non Vintage Brut, unless otherwise indicated. Most of the supermarkets, with the exception of Morrisons, require you to buy at least 6 bottles of wine/champagne to get the best deals (you can mix and match whatever you want though – it doesn’t have to be 6 bottles of the same thing).
Best champagne prices
- Nicolas Feuillatte: £15 (£20 at Asda, 25% off when you buy 6 or more bottles of wine = £15; same at Tesco)
- Lanson Black Label: £16.50 (£22 at Tesco, 25% off when you buy 6 or more bottles of wine = £16.50)

If you’re after something a little more special, Morrisons is selling Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2008 for £32, which is an absolute steal – and there’s no 6 bottle minimum either at Morrisons.

Bottom line
For my money and taste-buds, the best deals in terms of price/quality are the Laurent-Perrier, Pol Roger and Bollinger for £22.50-£25.50 per bottle; although the Taittinger, Piper-Heidsieck, Mumm, and Veuve Clicquot aren’t far behind.
My own ‘cellar’ is now almost full, but if anyone spots Billecart-Salmon Rosé on offer… please let me know!

Don’t forget that some people also have 10% off at Morrisons (and 5% at Waitrose) via Amex cards, which can improve the Veuve deal by another £2.60 per bottle.

Great point! – in fact, something I’ve taken advantage of myself so really should have mentioned!!
Also – the £18 ‘new’ Sainsbury’s customer vouchers work even when just buying booze (unlike most other supermarkets), so that’s something to factor in too.
