The Unite Union released a statement this evening announcing that the planned strike action by workers at Heathrow Airport tomorrow (Monday 5th August) has been suspended:

Note that the strike planned for Tuesday (6th August) is still currently scheduled to go ahead, unless further progress is made in the negotiations tomorrow.

It’s also very important to be clear that although tomorrow’s strike has been averted, flights that had been cancelled in advance may or may not be reinstated – it depends on the airline.

For example, British Airways is looking to reinstate as many flights as possible, whereas Virgin Atlantic has confirmed that some “services will not revert back to the original London Heathrow schedule and will remain in place (at Gatwick Airport)”.

If you are due to be flying to/from Heathrow tomorrow, contact the operating airline directly to find out what the latest information is.
