Update: IHG Rewards Club Status Match Confirmed – Check Your Account

A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about how you can apply for a status match with IHG Rewards Club – including top-tier ‘Spire’ status. I can now confirm that the match works as advertised and that my account has been upgraded to Spire:

Although you don’t get the 25,000 bonus points that you would receive if you earned Spire status the ‘hard way’ (through actual stays!), it seems that all other benefits are included – even access to Hertz car hire ‘Five Star’ status:

How to apply for an IHG Rewards Club status match

IHG is matching status from a large range of competitors, including:

  • Le Club AccorHotels
  • Best Western Rewards
  • Caesars Rewards
  • Choice Privileges
  • Hilton Honors
  • World of Hyatt
  • Marriott Bonvoy
  • NH Rewards
  • Radisson Rewards
  • Wyndham Rewards

To apply for a status match, all you have to do is click here and fill in the form – it only takes a minute.

Your new status level lasts for 90 days, unless you complete the following number of qualifying stays during that period:

If you do complete the required number of stays, you get to keep your status all the way through to the end of 2020.

Note that the promotion is only available to members who have a UK or USA address listed on their IHG account and that you must apply by 30th June 2019. Only 2,500 members will be upgraded to Spire status and it may take up to 14 working days for the matches to be processed.

Bottom line

The status match promotion is scheduled to end on Sunday (30th June 2019), so if you were intending to apply, now is the time to do it!

    I did it the first day (matching with Marriott platinum) but only got IHG Platinum…quite dissapointing

    Thanks for the heads-up, I got matched to Spire status too. Do you know how I can find the start and end of my 90 days ?
