Last year Hyatt announced the purchase of the Two Roads Hospitality group. Two Roads was made up of four different hotel brands: Alila, Destination Hotels, Joie de Vivre and Thompson Hotels. These new hotels are slowing being incorporated into World of Hyatt and a new promotion has been announced to celebrate…
World of Hyatt members – if they stay before 31 December, 2019 – can earn:
- 2,000 points for their first stay at each of the four Two Roads brands
- A free night at ANY Hyatt Category 1-4 hotel for staying at least once at ALL FOUR brands
The free night certificate would be valid for 180 days after being earned, but could easily be used at a hotel costing £200+.
There is no need to register for this promotion. You can find the full T&Cs by clicking here.
An Extra Bonus
Moreover, these four brands are all included in the standard Hyatt promotion that offers a free night at any Category 1-4 hotel for staying at 5 brands over your lifetime. Joe wrote about it awhile back – click here for details.
So… if you manage all four of the new brands, you will get yourself 80% of the way to ANOTHER free night certificate. (this one would be valid for one year)
Why the Promo is REALLY Difficult…
First of all, some of the Thompson hotels have already joined World of Hyatt, with some Joie de Vivre hotels to join on 15 May, 2019. There is still no ETA for Alila and Destination hotels to become available through World of Hyatt. Until these hotels join World of Hyatt, you can’t even begin to plan for this challenging promo.
Time frame aside, you also need to be very well-travelled to have a chance at hitting all four brands! Here’s why…
Thompson Hotels
There are just 5 hotels in the United States, 1 in Canada and 2 in Mexico…
Joie de Vivre
Apart from the one random hotel in China, you’ll be choosing from California, New York or Chicago… (assuming they all join World of Hyatt)
Destination Hotels
Just when you thought you might be able to hotel hop during a trip to Chicago or New York, the list of Destination Hotels raises another challenge – since the vast majority are resort hotels in Hawaii and Colorado…
Alila
Apart from the one expensive resort in California, you’ll need to travel to Asia to stay at an Alila hotel…
The Bottom Line
Although I love a challenge, this promotion seems nearly impossible to complete, at least cost-effectively. And a time-limited Category 1-4 free night certificate isn’t quite valuable enough to make the effort. But it’s still an interesting puzzle to contemplate…
