Aer Lingus has announced that they will (finally) be introducing ‘AerSpace’, its new intra-Europe Business Class product, in September 2019.

By the sounds of it, AerSpace will be very similar to BA’s Club Europe, but with complimentary food/drink from the standard buy-on-board menu, rather than a separate offering:

“Introducing AerSpace – our new premium short-haul travel experience, designed to give you more space to work and relax because the middle seat is always free. Put your baggage in your reserved overhead storage, then stretch out and enjoy complimentary food and drink as you fly. Plus with lounge access, priority boarding and Fast Track airport security, you’ll breeze through the airport. Arrive at your best with AerSpace.”

AerSpace will include include the following perks:

  • Middle seat free
  • Private overhead storage
  • Complimentary food and drink from our Bia menu
  • Lounge access
  • Priority boarding
  • Fast Track security
  • Automatic standby for earlier flights
  • Free changes and refunds

The free changes/refunds element looks potentially very interesting, assuming AerSpace fares aren’t sky high.

To begin with, AerSpace will be available on the following routes:

Bottom line

It’s good to see Aer Lingus introduce this. A blocked middle seat and a free snack might not seem too much to get excited about, but it’s comparable to most intra-Europe products these days.

I suspect the people who will really appreciate it are Business Class passengers who regularly connect to/from a long haul with Aer Lingus – currently the short haul leg is just standard Economy.

Are you looking forward to trying Air Lingus’ AerSpace?
