Emirates operates from Terminal 3 at its hub Dubai International Airport. Divided over three concourses – A, B and C – the dedicated infrastructure for Emirates and Qantas is huge. In all concourses, the airline has multiple lounges for its First and Business Class travellers and Skywards elite passengers travelling in Economy. Skywards Blue members can also buy access to the various lounges.

Prior to my flight to Düsseldorf, I visited the Emirates Business Class lounge in Concourse B. If you are departing from Dubai, this is the first concourse you arrive at after checking in. If you are departing from Concourse A, you have to take a ride on the automated people mover. If your flight departs from Concourse C, you’ll have to walk over to the former Terminal 1. The B lounge can be a tad crowded, however the facilities are very good. The advantage of the A lounge is that you can board the aircraft straight from the lounge.

The entrance is located in the center of the terminal. After going up with the elevators and passing security, walk straight ahead and go one floor up with the escalator. To the left is the Business Class lounge (to the right is the First Class lounge). Access is of course included if you have a Business Class ticket. Skywards Gold members also have access together with a guest on the same flight. Only in Dubai, Skywards Silver members have access if travelling in Economy.

At the entrance there were various counters, almost resembling a check-in desk. The agent advised us to allow sufficient time to go to the C-gates. The lounge has multiple entrances and exits, so you don’t have to backtrack to the main entrance when it’s time to go to your gate.

Once inside, the lounge is huge. It is one floor up above the main terminal floor and runs from the center of the terminal all the way to the other end of the building.

Just after the entrance is a service desk for Skywards members. On the left side there was the Health Hub. Here you can get healthy snacks such as salads, pre-made wraps and sandwiches, fruit, Voss water and more. Around the corner there were some single seats with a view outside.

Going deeper into the lounge, there is a plethora of different seating areas in a range of setups. The capacity really is enormous. Still, most passengers seemed to stick to the area near the main entrance. If you walk a bit further, there is plenty of space and privacy.

Throughout the lounge there are different food & beverage stations; divided in different types of cuisines. There were Asian, Middle-Eastern, Western, Mediterranean and even dedicated dessert corners.

Plenty of choice. Everything also tasted very good. Some drinks were displayed for self-service, however most drinks you’d have to order with the staff behind the bar, including soft drinks. Bottles of Voss water were available.

Going even deeper in the lounge, there was the champagne bar. In collaboration with Moët&Chandon, there are various champagnes available together with a selection of bites to eat.

All the way at the end of the lounge, there is a smokers section. Here there is a separate food corner with international dishes.

Facilities

Next to the champagne bar in collaboration with Moët and the Health Bar together with Voss, Emirates also partnered up with Costa to provide a full coffee bar in the lounge. Here you can get all the regular hot and cold coffee preparations, pastries and cookies. Either for in the lounge or on-the-go.

As you would expect in a lounge this size, there are various restrooms and shower facilities, which were very neat. Towels and a range of amenities were provided. There also is a ‘Timeless Spa’ with paid treatments.

Those who have to work can make use of the business center. Throughout the lounge the wifi was fast and stable.
