In an interesting (and commendable) new development, Hilton Honors has just launched a referral scheme offering some easy free Hilton Honors points. It’s very simple: new joiners sign up via a referral link, and they’ll get 2,500 free Hilton Honors points after their first stay (which needs to be before 15 December 2018).

It does appear that this referral offer is time limited, given the 15 December deadline, but perhaps if it works well for Hilton, they’ll extend.

Note that not only will the new member get 2,500 free Hilton Honors points, so too will the referrer (and they can receive the bonus up to a maximum of 8 times, so 20K points). It’s my referral link above, so thanks for the points if you use it. However, I’m not convinced many reading this won’t already be Hilton Honors members.

If for whatever reason you are not a member of Hilton Honors, this is a very good reason to join. Personally (and others will certainly disagree here, some quite strongly…) it’s my favourite loyalty scheme of the lot.

Given that Hilton “stays” include reward stays, this offer would seemingly include a new member signing up, buying Hilton Honors points and then redeeming them for a stay (i.e. you would get 2500 points back). While I only really recommend buying Hilton Honors points when there’s a 100% bonus sale on, it’s something worth bearing in mind. In the case of a low value hotel redemption, it could give you a points rebate of as much as 50%.
