Travelodge???
Yep!
We write a lot about the finer things in life here at InsideFlyer, but fundamentally what we want to do is help people travel better for less – and Travelodge can be a useful part of your ‘travel hacking’ strategy. Not every trip needs to be all roses and champagne (I’m not seriously suggesting Travelodge for Valentine’s Day!) – sometimes you just need somewhere reasonable and well located to sleep, so why not save a chunk of money? You can sometimes book perfectly decent Travelodge hotels for just £10.50…
That said, it’s important to note that the quality of Travelodges can vary substantially, so check the specific reviews carefully. If you aren’t comfortable or can’t sleep, it doesn’t really matter how cheap a hotel is.
Here are a few I’ve personally stayed at in the last year and can recommend – as long as you set your expectations realistically:
Manchester
I recommend staying at Travelodge Manchester Salford Quays. It is on the outskirts of Manchester, but easily accessible by the Manchester Tram numbers 3 and 7, which run frequently. I found staying here very nice, being a short walk from the waterfront. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
Birmingham
For Birmingham, I recommend staying at the Travelodge Birmingham Central Bullring. It is ideally located, within walking distance of pretty much everything in Birmingham centre. Again, the staff were very friendly/attentive. Having stayed more than once, each time I have found it very quiet and an ideal base for visiting family nearby. New SuperRooms can be booked here.
London / Heathrow Airport
If you’re looking for a real bargain before a flight (or even for a trip to London), I can recommend staying at the Travelodge London Heathrow Central. It is a very quiet hotel not too far from Heathrow Airport.
It is a bit out of the way for London, but having stayed here for a few nights I didn’t find the location too bad and definitely worth it for such a good value hotel in/near London. New SuperRooms can also be booked here.
Conclusion
Travelodge is cheap and basic, but comfortable, and I use them quite a lot as you can see above. The rooms are spacious and in my opinion worth every penny – you don’t pay much more than pennies though!
Travelodges probably aren’t for everyone, but they can make the perfect base if you prefer to save your money for spending while out and about.

Is Travelodge part of Wyndham Rewards ?
And if so would these count towards the current ‘stay twice for 15k points’ promotion ??
