If you happen to be wandering through Piccadilly Circus in London in the next couple of months, you might be able to win free flights with Turkish Airlines just for sharing a selfie on instagram!

What?

Turkish airlines is running a promotional campaign called #takemethere.

Each week for the next 8 weeks, they are giving away 2 return Economy tickets from Heathrow or Gatwick to any of the 300 destinations Turkish fly to.

All you have to do is follow the Turkish Airlines’ Instagram account, then share a photograph of yourself in front of the big Piccadilly Light Screen (where the promotion is being advertised) with the hashtag #takemethere on your Instagram account, including the place you would like Turkish to take you to. Your Instagram account must be listed as public.

You can have a look at the promo website here and have a read of the full terms for the promotion here.

Anything else?

Somewhat mysteriously, the terms state the following, “Photos taken with the time stamps (7.50, 8.50, 9.50, 10.50……… 22.50) and our full- screen ad will be given priority by the jury when selecting the winners.”

I’m not really sure what that’s all about to be honest, but if you’re passing slightly before those times, it might be worth waiting an extra couple of minutes maybe?

Bottom line

Interesting promo for free flights with Turkish. The chances of winning are likely quite small, but if you’re passing anyway it would only take 2 seconds to snap a selfie and stick it on instagram.

Craig is a big fan of Turkish Airlines’ Miles and Smiles frequent flyer programme, though I doubt he’s spent much time in Economy!

Does the ad itself have a clock/time displayed prominently on it? Otherwise they’re going to have to look at the page source for each entry to see when it was taken/added to Instagram, as it’s on there but shown on the page on desktop or mobile app. Very odd clause.

This campaign was a scam. They first postponed the announcement date of winners, then got into a deep silence after updated date. Participants are asking each other about results and there is no announcement whatsoever. They don’t even have the decency to announce that they cancelled the campaign.
