Some online travel agencies (OTAs) have loaded some very decent Virgin Atlantic business class fares from Dublin to the West coast. I have been able to find availability for travel between now and 31 March 2018.
Yes, you will need to start from Dublin, and yes, you will need to backtrack via London. But you can’t argue with these fares:
Dublin to Seattle, 13 – 20 March 2018, £1,025
Dublin to San Francisco, 13-20 March 2018, £1,068
Dublin to Los Angeles, 13-30 March 2018, £1,103
Your first leg will take you from Dublin to Heathrow in BA Club Europe. Your transatlantic legs will be on Virgin Atlantic business class – ‘ Upper Class’ as they call it.
Although it is usually best to book direct with the airline, I can’t seem to get these cheap fares to load on the Virgin Atlantic website. Use Momondo or Skyscanner to find OTA pricing. I have used Momondo in the examples above.
For the BA segments, you will be able to earn miles with BA, the oneworld programmes or Alaska Mileage Plan. You could credit the Virgin Atlantic sectors to Virgin Flying Club, Delta Skymiles or Singapore Airlines Krisflyer.
Bottom Line
It is no secret that Dublin is a good starting point for cheap transatlantic business class travel – these fares represent excellent value, even when you factor in the expense and hassle of positioning yourself. You will also earn a decent amount of miles, depending on where you choose to credit.
