For reasons I don’t entirely understand, loyalty programmes quite often have a cut off date by which you must register for promotions by – despite the fact the promo actually carries on after that date. Today’s culprit is the latest MegaBonus promotion from Marriott Rewards, for which you need to register by 30th November 2017, even though you can book and stay all the way through to 15th January 2018.
The phrasing of “register by November 30, 2017” is ambiguous as to whether it means you need to register by the end of today (29th November) or can still do so tomorrow. Either way, don’t risk it – go and register now if you haven’t already. You’d kick yourself if you ended up having to book a couple of Marriott stays during the promo period but hadn’t bothered to register!
Aside from the registration date cut off, the MegaBonus terms are nice and simple. After two paid stays at any Marriott Rewards hotel, you will earn a free night certificate valid at any hotel in award categories 1-5. This free night certificate will be valid for six months after it is earned.
A free night in exchange for two paid stays is straightforward and valuable – I regularly save well over £100 using Cat 1-5 Certificates. I also like that it’s quite an attainable promotion even for infrequent travellers, certainly in comparison to some of rather ludicrous IHG Accelerate targets that pop up from time to time.
Bottom line
I almost fell foul of the registration cut off myself and was only ‘saved’ by the fact I had to make some unexpected Marriott bookings this week, which reminded me to check whether I’d registered.
The best advice is to simply register for promos immediately whenever you read about them, even if you only think there is a small chance you will end up making use of them (and yes, I should definitely follow my own advice more closely! 🙂 ).

While this is a fine article but it does not help me to understand how to register. I am going to the specific promo page , it say Register but where ? but it nowhere provides a clue im struggling for last 1 hour but still cant register. that’s the most unfriendly Promo I have ever come across. Today being the last day I guess I have to give this a miss
Hi Rajpal – apologies, I thought there was a link on the page but it doesn’t look like it. If registration is still possible, what you need to do is login into your account, click on “my account ” in the top right, then “your promotions” on the dropdown menu, you should then see the MegaBonus promo in the top left and a button to click on that says “Register”.
