Alitalia is offering some superb Business Class fares from London to Delhi – starting at £894 Return.
Availability looks pretty good at the time of writing, but there are also plenty of other dates for just a bit more too.
According to the ticketing terms, you should be able to find similar fares from late October through to mid March 2018. Also, your stay must be for at least 3 days and include a Saturday night.
The very cheapest fares I could find seemed to come up using Momondo, but always search using a variety of sites like Kayak and Skyscanner too, as they often find different results.
Is Alitalia Business Class any good?
The short hop to Rome won’t be anything much to write home about (although, I think I’m right in saying you get to use the Etihad lounge at Heathrow, which isn’t bad).
The flights to/from Delhi will feature Alitalia’s long-haul Business ‘Magnifica’ Class, which looks good and generally gets decent reviews.
Ben over OMAAT has a thorough review of the same product on a different route here.
What Miles can I earn?
I would probably credit the flights to Etihad Guest, where you should receive 300% of flown miles. That would work out at roughly 27,500 Miles per person in total.
Anything else?
If you don’t fancy tying up money in Alitalia given the airline’s precarious financial situation, there are also some excellent fares available on Gulf Air, from £969.
Bottom line
Sub £900 to India is a very decent price for Business Class, especially from the UK. The opportunity to bag yourself a decent haul of Etihad Guest Miles doesn’t hurt either.
While I imagine the Italian Government will find a way to keep Alitalia flying somehow, I would still definitely take a close look at your travel and purchase insurance to make sure you would be covered in the event of a sudden collapse.
