5,000 SPG Starpoints Bonus Offer (Targeted)

I got an email last night from Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG – the loyalty programme for Sheraton, Westin, St. Regis, etc) offering me a SPG Starpoints bonus of up to 5,000 Points.

It’s pretty clear that the offer is targeted but you can try to register here, and you should certainly keep an eye on your inbox (and spam!) for something similar.

The offer

Complete stays of two or more nights any time from 1 October until 31 December 2017 and earn up to 5,000 bonus Starpoints:

  • Book and complete your first stay to earn 2,000 bonus Starpoints.
  • Earn 1,000 bonus Starpoints on your second stay.
  • Then earn 2,000 bonus Starpoints on your third stay.

Bottom line

The offer averages out at an additional 833 Starpoints per night if you did three two-night stays. I value Starpoints very highly at 2p+ each, so the bonus is an effective kickback of about £17 per night, which is isn’t bad at all.

Did anyone else receive a similar offer?

See Section 1.4 for the complete definition of eligible rates, but note that certain prepaid rooms where the booking is made through a third party (including but not limited to travelocity.com, expedia.com and booking.com) are not eligible rates and do not earn Starpoints or qualify towards promotional earnings.

Bonus Starpoints will be credited to the member’s account within 2–4 weeks of the stay posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account following the first and second eligible stays.

This promotion may be combined with other Starpoints promotions in market during the same time; however, earnings are exclusive of each other.

I normally subscribe to the policy of not signing up for memberships I know I will never use (Emirates, etc.) in case a sign-up bonus comes along that I can hack.

Now twice this year I’ve been caught out. First the Virgin America / Alaska free miles, now this Emirates / SPG thing.
