Choice Privileges, the loyalty programme for Choice Hotels, is selling Points with a 40% bonus until 18:59 p.m BST on September 5th, 2017. You might not think this is particularly interesting in itself, but what if I told you that the Points sale makes it possible to book cheap hotel Suites?
Getting the Points
You need to buy 5,000+Points to get the bonus. Assuming you do, the cost per Point works out at ~0.61p (0.78 cents) each.
Points will be posted to your Choice Privileges account within 24 hours, so be aware that it isn’t completely instant.
Great, but what about those Suites???
One of the interesting quirks of Choice Privileges is that you can quite often book any available room listed online for the same number of Points as a standard room – and that includes Suites!
The best example of this we’ve come across is the 4* Clarion Hotel in Dublin, where you can book a Suite for as little as 6,000 Points (but there are many, many other examples).
You can currently buy 6,000 Points for about £36.60, or you could pay the lowest cash rate and spend ~£220 (239 Euros) instead if you prefer… 🙂
Note that when you click through to see which rooms are available (to see if there are any Suites!), you need to already have enough Points in your account, which is pretty annoying. Choice Privileges is quite weird to be honest – sometimes that’s good and sometimes it’s bad.
Even if you can’t bag a Suite, being able to book other room types can still save you money. I mentioned in this post here how you can book a room with two double bed in New York for the same number of Points as a standard Double, despite cash rates for Twin/Double Double rooms almost always being substantially more than one bed rooms in Manhattan.
Bottom line
Choice Privileges can be a little frustrating sometimes, but if you persevere you can find some amazing deals – like Suites for £36.60! The 40% bonus ends on Tuesday, so you’ve still got plenty of time to take advantage.

Transactions must be completed between 9:00 AM ET August 30, 2017 and 11:59 PM ET September 5, 2017 to be eligible for bonus points. Points will be posted to your Choice Privileges account within 24 hours after your transaction is complete. Bonus Points don’t count towards the annual limit. Purchased points do not count toward Elite Status or Lifetime Elite Gold Status. Transactions are final and nonrefundable. Offer may not be valid for all members.
