Joe recently wrote about the tremendous value you can get with Choice Privileges Points, and he’s absolutely right – I’ve just spotted a deal that must surely be the best value hotel points redemption in Dublin.
I love Dublin, it’s a great city that is cheap and easy to get to, but hotels are often quite pricey regardless of whether you use cash or hotel points. Being able to grab a Points bargain is therefore great news!
The 4* Clarion Hotel Dublin Liffey Valley can be booked for just 6,000 Choice Points for peak Summer Holiday dates (some times of year it’s 8,000 Points).
In the current sale, you can buy 6,000 Choice Points for ~ £36.00. Regular cash rates for the same dates look to be about ~£155 (170 Euros), so by buying you Points you would save a massive 75%+!
Remember that Points bookings are flexible too, so the ‘real’ saving if you compared like with like is even higher.
Bonus
One of the great quirks of Choice Privileges is that you can quite often book any available room for the same number of Points – including family rooms and even suites!
I think I’d rather pay £36 than ~£220, how about you?
Is the hotel any good?
Obviously a potential Points bargain is only really a good deal if you would actually want to stay at the hotel. The good news is that hotel looks pretty solid and gets decent reviews.
Facilities are excellent too, including a pool, steam room and sauna:
The only negative I can see is that the hotel is located about 6 miles (30 minute bus ride) from the city centre, so isn’t in the thick of the action. As a comfortable, affordable base to visit Dublin and the surrounding areas though, I think it looks great. It’s a short walk to the Liffey Valley Shopping Complex, which has a cinema and restaurants etc, so you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Conclusion
Being able to book a suite at a comfortable hotel for £36, must surely make the Clarion Hotel the best value hotel points redemption in Dublin (even if it is a few miles out of the city). Any other suggestions are very welcome though! – let us know in the comments.
Note that the current 30% discount on Choice Points ends tomorrow (17th August 2017).

Am i missing something?
Just tried searching on their website for the first time and every single property comes up as ‘Sold out’ when i search for points bookings…
SSS says
i was searching too far in the future. irritatingly, you can only book reward bookings 2 months in advance

Yes, another of Choice’s (many) quirks… some good, some bad I guess.

It’s definitely a bit far out for anyone looking to be in the middle of things.
But with a pool etc, it might be a good choice for a family. In terms of redemption, none of the hiltons I’ve stayed in in Dublin have a pool, nor does the newly opened HIX. And all of those will cost a LOT more than this place.
I wouldn’t do it, but I can see how it would be appealing for others. At 11K out, a taxi would probably not break the bank.
Ian Macky says
….and its worth noting that the screencaps above show that the redemption includes breakfast.

I can’t seem to make this work.. keep getting an error “Please sign in to access this rate.”, even when I am signed in. Am I doing something wrong, or has this disappeared?
Joe Deeney says
Still works fine for me – CHoice is weird though, when you click through to see which rooms are available for Points, you need to have enough Points in your account. If there is at least some availability though, that should still show up on an initial search without logging in or having any Points.
Tom says
Ah. That may be the problem. My account is empty!
Do you know if the points rates apply to 4 people in one of those rooms? I’d be interested if it’d cover a family of 4..it looks like w/ cash rates you need to pay extra for a rollaway bed.
Any light you can shed much appreciated!
Joe Deeney says
yep, absolutely fine- so long as the room that has a max occupancy of 4 (double + 2 singles) is available for cash on your dates, it should bw 6,000 Points.
