Le Club Accor, the loyalty scheme for Sofitel, Pullman, Novotel, Mercure, Ibis and others, is running a number of promotions this summer. As always with Le Club Accor, the devil is in the detail as strict booking and stay windows apply, but once you’ve got your head around these, the scheme offers genuine value.
The promotions below combine with cashback of course, and Topcashback has currently doubled the rate for Accor:
Remember that 1 Le Club Accor point has a fixed monetary value of 2 eurocents, so spending the Accor points on future hotel stays is often more lucrative than converting them to airmiles. The exchange rate to BA (2 Accor points = 1 Avios) is notoriously poor, so if you are considering turning your Accor stash into Avios, you should send them to your Iberia Plus account instead–at a rate of 1 Accor point = 1 Avios. Nothing would then stop you from transferring them over to your BA account via the ‘Combine my Avios’ feature.
Here’s a list of current promotions:
1. 500 bonus Avios on your next stay at Novotel or Mercure
- Book a stay at any Mercure or Novotel worldwide between now and 30 September 2017 and you will receive 500 bonus Avios for stays in the same period.
- To take advantage of this offer, you must register in advance and set your earning preference to either Iberia Plus or British Airways. Here are the registration pages for Iberia and BA.
- Because there are no minimum stay requirements, even a night in a cheap Mercure will bag you the bonus.
- There is a catch however…You will need to set your earning preference to airmiles as part of the registration process, meaning that this will automatically convert all the Accor points in your account to Avios. Don’t do this if you are sitting on a large stash of Accor points as they will be converted to Avios. It could work out nicely however for new and infrequent users of Le Club Accor who see no good use for a smaller amount of Accor points. Remember you will currently earn 12% cashback on Novotel and Mercure bookings on top.
2. triple and quadruple points in Europe (excl. France), Middle East and Africa
- Earn triple points (Classic, Silver, Gold members) or quadruple points (Platinum) on stays between 12 June and 3 September 2017. You must register for this offer here and then book between 12 June and 23 July.
3. triple and quadruple points in France
- Earn triple points for your stay and quadruple points on subsequent stays in France. Register here, then book by 31 August, stay by 3 September 2017.
4. triple points in Asia Pacific
- Earn triple points in Asia on stays between 10 June and 10 September. Register here and book by 10 September.
5. Up to 1,500 bonus points in the UK & Ireland
- Earn 1,500 bonus points (worth 30€) for stays in the UK and Ireland between 19 April and 31 December 2017. You will earn 500 bonus points on your first stay and 1000 bonus points on your second stay. Register here and book by 19 July.
6. Up to 1,500 bonus points in Canada, USA, Mexico, Guatemala and Panama
- Register here, book and stay by 30 September to receive 100 bonus points after night 1, 200 bonus points after night 2, 300 bonus points after night 3, 400 bonus points after night 4, 500 bonus points after night 5.
Bottom line
If you are looking to book a stay with Accor this summer, these promotions will help you boost your Le Club Accor points earning rate. The triple points and 1,500 bonus points offers are generous, especially when combined with up to 15% cashback.
Let’s imagine you have got two one-night stays in a cheap Ibis coming up at 50 pounds each. Under the current 1,500 bonus points promotion for stays in the UK (you need to book today! – 19th July), you will receive an effective rebate of 30€ straight away. You will also earn the standard rewards points (plus elite status bonus depending on your membership tier) and 7.5% cashback. You are thus looking at a rebate of over 35% on your 100 pound spend!
