Accor Hotels’ Novotel and Mercure brands are offering 500 bonus Avios per stay for dates between 01/07/2017 – 30/09/2017. The booking dates and the stay dates cover the same period.

You can collect the bonus with British Airways Executive Club, Avios.com or Iberia Plus – but you should choose Iberia Plus, as the standard Avios earning rate is higher. If you opt for British Airways Executive Club, the standard earning rate is 1.25 Avios per Euro,  whereas if you pick Iberia Plus instead you will receive twice as many Avios – 2.5 Avios per Euro spent.

Transferring Avios from Iberia Plus to BAEC / Avios is free and easy so I can’t think of a reason not to choose it.

To get the 500 bonus Avios, you need to login to your Accor account, click on “My Loyalty Card”, then “My Rewards”, and then select Iberia Plus (or BAEC / Avios if preferred for some reason) as your automatic conversion partner:

Do note that this will lead to all of your Accor Points being transferred to Iberia, so if you’d rather keep them for Accor hotel stays the best thing to do is either use them for a refundable hotel booking far in the future, or use them to order Accor vouchers, before you change the preference on your account.

Accor bonus Avios bottom line

500 bonus Avios wouldn’t be enough to make me switch an existing booking to Novotel / Mercure, but it’s a decent bonus if you would be staying anyway. Combined with the generous cashback available from TopCashback and Quidco, Accor can still be a good option despite the unfortunate demise of ‘Happy Mondays’.

This offer entitles Le Club AccorHotels members, regardless of their membership status, to earn a bonus of [500] Rewards points for a stay in one of the participating hotels in the Le Club AccorHotels Loyalty program. This bonus of Rewards points is offered in addition to the Rewards points and Status points that are usually earned by the Le Club AccorHotels member for each eligible stay done in application to the Le Club Accorhotels General Conditions of Use.
This promotion is not applicable for hotel partners of Le Club AccorHotels.
The number of Rewards points earned for this offer are calculated based on a Classic membership status level earn rate.
In order to benefit from this offer, the member must have activated [IberiaPlus] as their preferred automatic conversion option ahead of the stay. This option should remain activated until the member receives the points (Rewards points and Status points) related to his/her stay on his/her Le Club AccorHotels membership account.
3. This offer is valid for a member’s stay from 01/07/2017 to 30/09/2017 in one of the participating hotels worldwide, and booked between 01/07/2017 and 30/09/2017.
4. The stay must be a minimum of 1 night(s).
