Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) is the loyalty scheme for one of the largest collections of genuine luxury hotels in the world – with over 375 hotels in 75 countries, including iconic properties like The Ritz and The Langham in London.

LHW do not have your standard loyalty scheme where status depends on how often you stay. Instead, you pay a flat $150 for membership of their ‘Leaders Club’ programme (or $1,200 for the more elite ‘Unlimited’ membership).

However, for a limited period, LHW  is offering complimentary Leaders Club membershipTo benefit, you need to follow this link and then make one booking with LHW. While the promotion is nominally in association with Mastercard, there does not appear to be any requirement to actually have/use a Mastercard to benefit.

The offer does, however, appear to be limited to new members only: you will need to enter your email address, and your eligibility will then be confirmed (or not).

Are the benefits of membership any good?

Given that LHW normally charge $150, membership is definitely worth having.

It includes:

  • Complimentary daily continental breakfast for two
  • Complimentary Internet Access
  • Welcome Gifts
  • Room Upgrades
  • Free Night at any LHW hotel after every 5 stays
  • Member-Only offers and Rates
  • Early Check-in/Late Check-out
  • Sixt Rental Car Platinum Status

Getting free breakfast, a room upgrade and a welcome gift is equivalent to top-level status in many other hotel loyalty schemes and the other perks are nice extras too.

I also love the very straightforward simplicity (and generosity!) of a free night at any of their hotels after just five stays.

How best to book the night for the free status?

There are plenty of very nice hotels in Europe that you can stay at for £100.00 and below per night out of season, including the excellent Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

Will the status apply to the initial booking?

It appear so, yes.

The link says offer unable to be verified and yet the MasterCard website states offer valid until 31/12/17 🙁
