American Express is once again offering a £50 rebate for spending £200+ on hotels, flights or car hire with American Express Travel.

I noticed the offer on my Amex Platinum account yesterday, and if the offer works like it has done on previous occasions, all Amex Gold and Platinum card-holders should be eligible (it’s also worth checking your BA/SPG Amex card too). It may take a couple of days before you can see the offer on your account.
The terms are fairly straightforward:
  • Spend £200+ with American Express Travel on prepaid hotels, flights, car hire or experiences
  • Registration required
  • Must pay by 30th June 2017
  • Valid once per card.
  • Payment is required in full on the American Express Card to which the offer is saved
  • Cruise bookings and hotels booked through the FINE HOTEL & RESORTS and The Hotel Collection programme are not eligible

Bottom line

If you use it smartly this works out as a 25% discount for booking with American Express Travel (assuming you spend exactly £200!). Personally, 25% isn’t usually enough to get me to book hotels through Amex Travel (there are other good ways to get that sort of discount), but it’s a great deal if you’ve got some eligible flights coming up!
