If you check your American Express Offers page, you will probably be able to see a £10 off £50 Heathrow Express discount available – it’s on both my accounts and those of family members too:

The offer is essentially quite simple:

• Get a £10 statement credit on eligible spend of £50 or more at Heathrow Express by 23 July 2017
• Offer “valid every time”
• Must book online at heathrowexpress.com – Offer is not valid on purchases made at the station or on board a train.
• Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from 23 July 2017.

The only thing I’m not sure about is if the “offer valid every time” line in the terms means that you can take advantage of the offer more than once (that would seem the obvious reading), or if it means that you get the credit for cumulatively spending £50 before 23rd July, rather than having to hit the £50 spend in one go.

How to register for the Heathrow Express discount

If you have an American Express card issued directly by American Express (Gold/Platinum, SPG, BA/BAPP etc), login to your American Express online account, click on the “offers” tab and then click on “save to card” when you see the Heathrow Express discount.

I can’t see the offer on the Amex Connect site yet (where you can register Amex cards that aren’t actually issued by American Express – like the MBNA issued American Airlines card etc), but keep an eye out as it might well pop up on there soon.

If you’re going to be spending £50 or more booking Heathrow Express tickets anyway, then obviously yes!

The thing I really like about American Express statement credit offers is that the discount comes after you’ve been charged, so can be stacked with any other sort of discount or cashback available.

A Return for 2 adults would cost £60 in total, so would trigger the £10 statement credit. Remember that children aged 15 or under travel free too (with an adult), so the Heathrow Express can make a lot of sense for families.
