Car rental company Avis is currently offering up to 5,800 bonus Avios for car hire – if you book quickly!

There are actually two separate offers but both require a rental minimum of 3 days and the rental car group must be Group C or higher:

1. 5000 bonus Avios – limited to the first 100 people to book!
2. 800 bonus Avios for rentals before 7th April 2017.

The standard minimum earning for a 3 day Class C rental is 700 Avios, so with the 800 Bonus that works at 1,500 – or 500 Avios per day. That’s OK, but certainly not great.

If you can book tonight though, you should be in with a decent chance of being one of the first 100 and could collect a hefty 6,500 Avios in total – 2,166 Avios per day!

As ever with these deals, make sure you read the terms carefully (included at the bottom of this post) and shop around to make sure you aren’t paying more by booking through BA than the bonus Avios are worth.

Anything else?

Yep – it seems that if you book your car using a British Airways American Express Card, you should get a further bonus of 750 Avios minimum.

Bottom line

If you are one of the first 100 people to book, 6,500 Avios for a 3 day rental is a pretty solid return. I received the promo email this evening and although all global bookings are eligible, the offer is only available to people in the UK, so as long as you are quick to book you should have a good chance of getting the 5,000 bonus Avios.

Prices for car rental vary hugely and you can sometimes find amazing deals by shopping around, so don’t be blinded by the bonus Avios!

To qualify, a person must rent a vehicle from any Avis rental location worldwide and pay in full. The rental length must be a minimum of 3 days and the rental car group must be a minimum car group C. The rental must be pre-reserved at www.ba.com (post-pin) and www.avisba.com (with Executive Club passenger type selected) or with the British Airways Call Centre (Qualifying Entrant). Rentals must include the British Airways Executive Club membership number of the first named driver (the renter). This Executive Club number must be given at time of reservation and the card shown at time of rental. Only Qualifying Entrants may enter into this promotion. Offer 2:

1. This Promotion is open to British Airways Executive Club (BAEC) members (“Eligible Participants”)
2. To Participate, Eligible Participants must rent a vehicle within the rental card group c and minimum of 3 days. (“Eligible Rentals”)
3. The Eligible Rental must be made between 00:01 GMT 7 February 2017 and 23:59 GMT 7 April 2017.
4. Eligible Rentals must be made using a British Airways/Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number: Gold members N744400; Silver members N744300; Bronze members N284300; Blue members N744100.
5. Reservations made on ba.com (post-login) and avisba.com (with British Airways Executive Club passenger type selected) or with the British Airways Call Centre will automatically have the correct AWD embedded in the rental.
6. To collect Avios the Eligible Rentals must include the British Airways Executive Club membership number of the first named driver (the “renter”). The BAEC account number must be given at time of rental.
7. Valid for all rental locations worldwide.
8. Eligible Rentals will receive 800 bonus Avios in addition to the standard award of 3 Avios per £1 spent, with a minimum standard award of 700 Avios for 3+ day rentals.
9. A minimum of 1,500 Avios (made up of minimum 700 standard Avios for 3+ day rentals plus 800 bonus Avios) will be awarded per qualifying rental, to a maximum of 10,000 Avios per rental.
10. This Avios bonus is not valid on Prestige, Van or Chauffeur Drive rentals worldwide.
11. Offer may not be used in conjunction with any other coupon, promotion or mileage offer.
12. The awarding of Avios may take up to 8 weeks from date of rental.
