According to the AwardWallet blog, you can get 1,000 free IHG Points each year simply by adding your birthday to your account profile.
The Points supposedly get posted as a gift on your birthday, which is very kind of IHG! I haven’t had a chance to test this personally yet, but there’s a Reddit thread here that seems to confirm that it works.
1,000 Points obviously isn’t a huge amount, but they’re free and it all adds up – 1,000 Points is 20% of your way to a free Pointbreaks night!
If you’re playing along with the current IHG Calendar / ‘Wheres Iggy’ game, and don’t mind filling in a survey too then you’ll almost have the full 5,000 Points needed for a Pointbreaks hotel.
Conclusion
I can’t guarantee it works and it’s only 1,000 free IHG Points – BUT it only takes 30 seconds to add the information to your IHG account, so it seems worth trying to me.

Hi James . I did mine a few months ago and it did post . Please note that you can enter your birthday only once. If you need to amend it you have to call the call centre . I guess it’s to avoid one from trying to get multiples of 1000 points by continuously changing the dates.
It’s worth mentioning that I haven’t stayed with ihg for years (although manage to keep my account active). I entered my DOB and didn’t receive any bonus
