I recently flagged how you could convert your Emirates Skywards Miles into, effectively, cash to spend at Heathrow or Dubai Airports.
While the conversion rate was modest (0.33p per mile at Heathrow, 0.49p per mile at Dubai), Emirates 36 month “hard expiry” policy on miles means any Emirates miles collector may well be faced with rapidly expiring miles: 0.33p per mile is obviously better than nothing.
However, with remarkable timing, Emirates and Heathrow Rewards have just launched a 50% bonus on conversions of Emirates miles into Heathrow Rewards. This means you will now get 0.5p per mile.
The bonus runs until 31 December 2016.
The full details of the promotion are here. One of the key points to be aware of, per our earlier article on the point, is that the minimum transfer into Heathrow Rewards is 6,000 Emirates Skywards miles.
In summary, if you have Emirates Skywards miles set to expire, this is a potentially very good option for you.

Can you still transfer points out to other partners other than Emirates? I once sent points over to Avios but can only see Emirates now on their site?
Tom Sumner says
You certainly can, and of course transferring out to airlines (at a 1:1 ratio) is a much better value proposition than transferring in from Emirates (at a 1:3 ratio), plus there are (fairly) regular bonuses.
Current “transfer out” airline partners are Avios/BA Exec Club, Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest, Lufthansa Miles&More and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club:

Can you transfer in from any of the partners highlighted above Tom?
Tom Sumner says
No, the Emirates “transfer in” option is unique. Remember of course that you also can’t transfer in from Emirates then out to another airline partner: any Emirates miles transferred in can only be used for Heathrow spend.
