Yes, it’s a day with a ‘y’ in it, so Virgin America are giving away another 500 free Elevate Points!
This time it’s for signing up to the ‘Virgin Produced’ newsletter, and you need to do so by 26th October.
It takes literally 30 seconds to sign up, so there’s really no excuse not to!
500 Points might not get you very far, but Virgin America have been running offers like this frequently for months now. In fact, if you had taken advantage of all the free Elevate Points promotions we have flagged over the last few months, you would have nearly 5,000 Points!
I value Virgin America Elevate Points as being worth roughly two of most other types of Miles, so 5,000 free Points for a few minutes work in total, really is fantastic.
Joe, you’re not American – why do you keep banging on about Virgin America?
Fair question.
Basically, it’s because they have some amazing sweetspots on their award chart – like Return flights to New York in Singapore Airlines Business Class for just 59,000 Points, or 60,000 Points for Return flights to Hong Kong in Virgin Atlantic ‘Upper Class’.
Even just redeeming them on Virgin America itself (they have good route network on the US West Coast and a decent number or transcontinental flights to the East Coast too) gets you about 2p per Point (2.2-2.6 USD cents).
Also, you can top off your account by transferring SPG Starpoints at a very generous rate of 1:1 (+ a bonus 5,000 when you transfer in multiples of 20,000). Remember that you can transfer American Express Membership Rewards Points to SPG too (admittedly at a 2:1 ratio) if you don’t have any Starpoints.
Sign-up – it takes literally 30 seconds and I value 500 Elevate Points as being worth about a tenner!

You can convert these to IHG through points.com. I picked a couple of thousand through their bunnies campaign earlier in the year.

Excellent point – I forgot about that. Not great value per se, but obviously a lot more useful to most people I suspect.
