Collecting Avios on online bookings via the dedicated Avios booking site has always been the most lucrative way of earning loyalty points on the Heathrow Express.

Ordinarily, Avios collectors with Avios.com, British Airways Executive Club or Iberia Plus will get a pretty generous 10 Avios per £1 spent on Heathrow Express tickets. However, this deal has just got a lot better. Indeed, if my advanced maths skills aren’t failing me, it’s now twice as good…

Yep, until 31 October 2016 you will collect 20 Avios per £1 spent on Heathrow Express. To benefit, you just need to book via the special Avios-earning Heathrow Express page, making sure you’ve added your membership number (be it Avios.com, BAEC or Iberia Plus) to the booking, as highlighted below:

Note that to benefit from Avios on your Heathrow Express booking, you must book online via the dedicated site. You cannot collect Avios Points on tickets purchased on the train, at the airport or via any other websites.

While you can also earn Heathrow Rewards points with Heathrow Express, these pay at a relatively paltry 1 point per £1 spend, rather than the more generous Avios rate.

The major caveat here, however, is that you should only take the Avios option if you cannot benefit from the massively reduced advance fares offered on the Heathrow Express website. These fares are not offered on the dedicated Avios-collecting site, which only offers the standard rate.
