As we have previously flagged, every Wednesday Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG), releases the latest round of “SPG Hot Escapes” on their dedicated website.

These deals can be booked until the coming Saturday for hotel stays in the subsequent 6 weeks, with discounts that can go up to 50% depending on the destination and hotel.

If you’re not a member yet of the SPG loyalty programme, then I recommend you sign up (for free), as you will get an extra discount of 5% on all the prices featured on the SPG Hot Escapes website.

The SPG Hot Escapes list is released every Wednesday

There is not a lot to pick from… Compared to previous weeks, there are substantially less hotels available in the promotion this week.

In fact, there were 44 hotels on Wednesday’s list:

  • Africa: 1 hotel
  • Asia: 6 hotels
  • Central America: 1 hotel
  • Europe: 6 hotels
  • Mexico: 1 hotel
  • Middle East: 1 hotel
  • North America: 21 hotels
  • Oceania: 7 hotels (of which 4 are in Australia)

As you can see, this week’s list does not even feature any hotels in the UK, and for mainland Europe the choice is pretty poor.

Note that you will earn Starpoints when booking one of the SPG Hot Escapes deals  – like you would with an ordinary booking through the SPG website. That said, dished out on a strict revenue basis, Starwood doesn’t reward you with many points for hotel stays, especially if you compare the number of points you receive with, for example, IHG.

However, the Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty programme does have an interesting conversion rate for transferring points from your SPG account to your favourite airline frequent flyer account. It’s possible to convert Starpoints at a 1:1 rate to air miles. You’ll also earn a 5,000 point bonus when you transfer 20,000 points.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to visit the InsideFlyer UK forum and ask – we’ll be glad to help you out.
