BA has just launched a global sale which, applicable to bookings until 17 May, has two key elements to it. First, there are some good value offers on flights bought with hard cash, as we highlight below.

Secondly, it is also offering a 50% bonus on the savings you will make if you “part pay” for your flight using Avios.

So let’s have a look at both of these options… 

The Sale

There are some solid cash prices available in the BA sale. Have a good look areound of course, but the flights worth flagging that we picked up are as follows:

Business Class, from London

The Part Payment With Avios Savings

When you book a flight on BA with BA, you will be given the option to “Part Pay with Avios”. This simply reduces your flight by a set amount, based on the number of Avios you are willing to part with.

During the sale, the cash saving you will get for your Avios points spent is increased by 50%, as follows:

If you can combine this 50% bonus with a decent sale fare, then there really are bargains to be had. Taking a fairly random example, a long weekend in Munich, flying from London in Club Europe Business Class, can be reduced to a cash payment of just £86 when you use 11,250 Avios:

Berlin is also available at just £65 Business Class return, on payment of 15,000 Avios:

Have a good look, but there’s definitely value to be had withe the 50% of extra value on the Avios part-payment element.
