As noted on our forums, and hot on the heels of a superb Qatar Airways Business Class sale, the Star Alliance airline network is currently offering some fantastically priced Business Class flights out of Amsterdam and the UK, to the US.

For Amsterdam, almost every US destination is pricing at just over £1,000 return for all of July and August (i.e peak summertime!). At less than half normal Business Class prices, and indeed little more than the Economy fares on many routes, this is a potentially fantastic offer.

You don’t even need to be too hampered by the Amsterdam starting point either: while this will save you money, the flights out of London are also pricing at a very good value £1,400 or so.

Taking Los Angeles as an example, you can see that the booking calendar for July/August is showing nothing but £1,069 Business Class returns:

Taking this through to the booking stage, I was able to secure a return from Amsterdam to Los Angeles for my exact dates in August (5-14 August, no flexibility whatsoever required to secure this fare):

As discussed above, here’s a comparison of the Economy Class flights to the Business Class ones (looking at a one-way segment)!

Meanwhile, here is July and August from the UK to Los Angeles – good value at £1,421 return:

Again, these Business prices compare very favourably to the Economy prices:

Don’t forget that while we have used LA as an example above, these fares are available to an enormous range of US destinations, so have a good look yourself.

Whether the £350 or so saving you get by routing through Amsterdam is worth it is a matter of personal choice, although one option, of course, is to make a weekend of it, and get two holidays for the price of one. There are far worse places to spend a couple of days than Amsterdam, of course.
