The Virgin trains “Superfly Seat Sale” has now begun and is, apparently, “the only January sale you need”. While that’s open to debate (and sadly not something my wife will agree with), there are some genuine bargain seats available.
The sale is for travel on Virgin’s East Coast route between London and Edinburgh.
Headline prices include £5 journeys between London and Leeds (£20 First Class), £10 journeys between London and Newcastle (£30 First Class) and £15 journeys between London and Edinburgh (£40 First Class).
To benefit, you need to book by 9pm on 8 January 2016 and travel between 5 January and 23 March 2016 (blackout dates: 30 Jan, 6 Feb and 13-21 Feb).
Tickets are subject to availability, so early booking is recommended (and, in any event, you only have until 8 January).
Is it worth paying more for First Class?
It depends entirely on your personal economics of course. However, in terms of the added value, I would certainly pay the £20-£25 extra for the First Class experience.
