Following on from yesterday’s post about the amazing cashback currently on offer for staying with Hilton, and the recent Diamond status match promotion, it seems a good time to briefly mention the Hilton HHonors Platinum Visa.

If you are looking to enjoy the perks of your shiny new Diamond status, or just fancy a night at a luxurious 5* Conrad or Waldorf Astoria hotel (and why not!), it makes a lot of sense to consider getting the card, as the signup bonus is one free weekend night at (almost) any hotel in Hilton’s portfolio.

The card is free and you have to spend £750 on it in the first 90 days to get the free night certificate. The certificate can be used at any of Hilton’s brands and expires after 6 months.

On top of the free night, you will also get 2,500 bonus Hilton points for each of your first four paid Hilton stays (worth ~ £10 per stay) when you pay with the card.

Card holders benefit from Silver Status, which allows you to take advantage of Hilton’s ‘5 nights for the price of 4’ when using points to book. Gold status can be earned by spending £10,000 on the card in a year.

The earnings rate is 3 Hilton points per £1 spent at Hiltons, and 2 Hilton points per £1 spent everywhere else – which is ok for a non-Amex card, but not great.

Potential Problem:

Barclaycard (who issue the Hilton HHonors Platinum) have a slightly odd policy at the moment, which prevents anyone from being accepted for a new Barclaycard if you already have one (or have had one in the last six months). This should be filed under ‘strange but seemingly true’ – the upshot is, don’t apply if you already have a Barclaycard or have had one in the last 6 months.

Any Extras?

Not only is there no annual fee for the card, but for the next few days Topcashback will pay you an exclusive £27.00 for signing up!

Remember that you can convert your cashback to Tesco Clubcard Points, and then transfer them into 6,500+ Avios or Virgin Flying Club Miles.

If you do not have a Topcashback account yet, please use this link, as we get a small referral bonus (thanks!).

Conclusion

Being paid £27.00 (or 6,500 Avios if you prefer) to get a credit card that offers a free night at hotels like the Conrad Koh Samui, or the Waldorf Cavalieri in Rome, seems like an excellent deal to me!
