Iberia is set to expand its long-haul offerings by introducing three new destinations for the winter season of 2025. This expansion includes Orlando, as well as Recife and Fortaleza in Brazil.

New Routes Overview

• Orlando: Starting on 26 October 2025, Iberia will operate four weekly flights from Madrid to Orlando, utilising A330 aircraft with a capacity for 254 passengers.
• Recife: Flights to Recife will commence on 13 December 2025, with three weekly frequencies, increasing to five in February. The A321 XLR aircraft, known for its efficiency, will serve this route.
• Fortaleza: Beginning on 19 January 2026, Iberia will offer three weekly flights to Fortaleza, ramping up to four weekly services in February. This route will also be operated by the A321 XLR.

Iberia’s Director of Sales, María Jesús López Solás, expressed enthusiasm for these new routes, particularly highlighting Orlando’s potential as a festive destination. The partnership with Disney Destinations is expected to drive holiday traffic, especially during the Christmas season.

In Brazil, the new routes aim to bolster tourism from Spain. The addition of Recife and Fortaleza will provide Spanish (and other European) tourists with access to Brazil’s vibrant northeast, known for its stunning beaches and rich culture.

“We believe Brazil has great potential, beyond the major cities we already serve. With the addition of the new A321XLRs, we can explore new routes across the Atlantic, assess their acceptance, and gradually adapt supply to demand,” said López Solás.

Bottom line

With nearly 284,000 seats available between Spain and Brazil during the 2025-2026 winter season, hopefully there should be some decent award space. Using Avios for Iberia long haul Business Class is still one the best (simple) points/miles redemptions.
