Miles & More is making significant changes to its award flight pricing. From 3rd June 2025, dynamic pricing will be introduced for award flights with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, and Lufthansa City Airlines. This means that the number of miles required for these flights will be based on the ticket price rather than fixed mileage values.
For other airlines in the Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance partners, the fixed mileage values will remain in place. However, new mileage values are being introduced, which will increase the cost of many award flights.
Dynamic pricing for Miles & More award flights
Previously, travellers could determine the required miles using a fixed table. However, from 3rd June 2025, flights with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, and Lufthansa City Airlines will adopt dynamic pricing. The number of miles needed will depend on factors such as travel time, booking time, route, travel class, and fare type. This change may lead to cheaper mileage values during off-peak times but higher costs overall for premium routes and classes.
The well-known “mileage bargains” for Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS will also be integrated into the new dynamic pricing structure. However, they will still be available for airlines like Air Dolomiti, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings.

Changes to award flight fares
In Europe, travellers will have a choice between Light, Classic, and Flex fares in Economy Class, and Saver or Flex fares in Business Class. For intercontinental flights, Basic, Basic Plus, and Flex fares will be available. The availability of award flights on some routes may improve, but travellers with a large balance of Miles & More miles are advised to book before the changes take effect.
Increased mileage values for partner airlines
While the dynamic pricing model applies to Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and SWISS, fixed mileage values will remain for other Lufthansa Group airlines and Star Alliance partners. However, these fixed values will also increase for many routes.
For example, a round-trip Business Class flight from Europe to North America will increase from 112,000 miles to 125,000 miles. First Class flights will rise from 182,000 miles to 215,000 miles. The increases are even more dramatic for Southeast Asia, where a Business Class round trip will jump from 142,000 miles to 200,000 miles.

Marcus Frank, Vice President Loyalty at the Lufthansa Group, stated: “We are constantly working to improve services and offers for our participants in the Miles & More program. We take into account specific wishes of our participants, such as more flexibility in flight rewards and a digital booking experience within the Lufthansa Group.”
However, many members question whether these changes truly reflect their preferences…
Bottom line
If you have a large number of Miles & More miles, you should seriously consider booking your flights before the changes take effect on 3rd June 2025.
