SkyTeam is introducing welcome improvements to its lounge access policy. From 1 April 2025, SkyTeam Elite Plus members will gain access to select domestic lounges, even when travelling in Economy or Premium Economy Class. Additionally, more lounges will standardise their visit duration to three hours, though this limit is rarely enforced in practice.
New Domestic Lounge Access
The most significant change affects SkyTeam customers flying domestic routes. Elite Plus members travelling on domestic flights with Air France, China Eastern, Garuda Indonesia, Kenya Airways, KLM, SAS, Saudia, and Vietnam Airlines will have access to select lounges, regardless of their travel class.
For instance, if you’re flying Economy Class with Garuda from Jakarta to Bali, you’ll now enjoy lounge access in Jakarta. Similarly, Kenya Airways passengers travelling from Nairobi to Mombasa in Economy will have access to the Nairobi lounge. Whilst some carriers have unofficially offered this benefit previously, it’s now formally incorporated into the lounge access policy.
Elite Plus members may bring one guest into the lounge, provided they’re travelling on the same SkyTeam flight. The alliance plans to expand the number of participating domestic lounges in future.
Notable Exceptions
Not all SkyTeam airlines are adopting the new policy. Aerolineas Argentinas has opted out, and more notably, Delta Air Lines will maintain its existing restrictive access policy for domestic flights for non-First Class passengers.
Standardised Visit Duration
The alliance is also harmonising its lounge access rules by implementing a three-hour visit limit across more locations. This replaces varying time limits currently in place at different lounges. Importantly, SkyTeam Elite Plus passengers will retain their same-day lounge access privileges at connection points.
