It is also worth noting that the requirements for getting a Business Amex aren’t particularly difficult to meet:

• The business has a current UK Bank or Building Society account
• You/The business have/has no County Court Judgements for non-payment of debt
• You are aged 18 or over
• You have a permanent UK home address

Bottom line

Given the hefty annual fee on the Platinum, I’d probably stick with the (free in first year) Gold, unless you’re going to be able to make good use of the Platinum travel benefits.
