When writing for a travel website with a wide range of readers, it can sometimes be tricky knowing where to pitch advice. Tips that are beyond obvious for some can be extremely useful to others. On that basis, I thought it was well worth flagging what is a one-off, but extremely useful loyalty benefit.
In short, if your Hilton Diamond status expires, you have a one-time chance to extend it for a further year even if you did not qualify for it.
How to benefit from the Hilton Diamond extension
Mercifully, the process is simple and done entirely online, with the qualification criteria and process set out below.
- You need to have 3+ total years at Diamond status (although they do not have to be consecutive)
- You must have stayed 250+ nights (paid or reward) OR earned 500,000+ Hilton Base Points since joining Hilton Honors
- Expired members then submit the request at https://www.hiltonhonors.com/en_US/diamond-status-extension-2020/landing/
Given that many Hilton Diamond members, certainly those who obtained it outside of a fast-track or status match, should qualify for the above, it’s definitely one to bear in mind.
Hilton status qualification right now
Remember – at the moment Hilton status qualification requirements are very accommodating. So, even if you’re not Diamond, or do not qualify for the extension above, now is a great time to attempt to get status “the honest way” in what is, for me, the best hotel loyalty scheme out there.
