How I Booked A Balcony Suite In London (With Westminster Views) For £138 In Peak Summer…

If you took advantage of the (excellent) sale Radisson Rewards recently ran featuring four of its Park Plaza brand hotels in London, you might well be able to secure an even bigger bargain.

£89 for a decent central London hotel in the middle of the Summer Holidays (fully flexible) was a great deal in its own right, but how does upgrading to a suite with balcony views of Westminster for an extra £49 sound?

As you can see above, at the Park Plaza London Riverbank, it’s possible.

That’s a room that is selling for a minimum of £362+ (same random dates), and you’d pay just £138 in total.

How does it work?

After you make a booking through Radisson Rewards, you will usually be presented with a list of ‘space available’ upgrade options that you can bid for. Select the upgraded room you want and if it is available when you check in, you pay the extra and get the room. Note that these upgrades are not confirmed until you actually check in.

Can you confirm the upgrade in advance?

When I first looked into this a couple of years ago, I discovered that the answer is yes – at least some of the time. All you have to do is email the hotel directly and ask what your options are.

In fact, my personal experience is that you may receive an even better upgrade offer, as well as having it confirmed in advance.

Bottom line

Paying under £150 per night for a balcony suite with Westminster views (in the middle of summer!) is a truly great deal. If it’s not possible to head abroad, we might as well make the most of a staycation!

Have you taken advantage of Radisson’s generous cash upgrade options before?
