Hilton Honors has long been the only major hotel chain to allow you to book “day use rooms” online. You simply set the arrival and departure dates to be the same.
A Day Use Rate works exactly as the name suggests – you can use a room during the daytime, but you cannot stay overnight. Some people just want a quick shower and change of clothes after an overnight flight. Others want somewhere to spend a day working, using the gym, taking a nap, having an affair, etc.
The precise definition of “day” varies at each hotel, but it usually runs from 9 or 10 am until 5 or 6 pm. Moreover, with Hilton Honors, a “day use rate” room is treated exactly as an overnight stay for elite status purposes – you earn both a night and a stay credit.
Due to the coronavirus, hotel chains such as Hilton are marketing their hotels to be used as quasi “working from home” office space. Hilton is now calling their day use rooms “Workspaces by Hilton”.
And most interestingly… Hilton Honors is offering 10,000 bonus points for your next “Workspaces” booking in the United Kingdom, Canada or the United States. Details can be found by clicking here.
There’s no need to rush… this promotion runs until 31 March, 2021.
Terms & Conditions
This offer is open only to Hilton Honors members and is subject to availability at participating properties in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Offer is valid for first eligible WorkSpaces by Hilton day booking completed between November 10, 2020 and March 31, 2021 (“Promotion Period”). Hilton Honors members will receive 10,000 bonus points for the first day stay completed during the Promotion Period

Please allow six to eight weeks from completion of your stay for bonus points to appear in your account. Offer is not valid for groups and cannot be combined with other select offers. In-Room Internet Access, Fitness Center/Health Club Access and Bottled Water benefits may not be complimentary at properties with a resort charge. Booking a Day Use Room
As I mentioned above, you simply set the arrival and departure date to be the same.
Many, but not all, Hilton hotels will offer a day use rate. (especially now that overnight occupancy levels are so low)
If you want to make absolutely sure that you are booking an eligible rate, you can try the SRP DU or 1DY codes mentioned in the T&Cs. Alternatively you could select a hotel specifically offering “Workspaces” as opposed to “Day Use”.
YMMV
The terms & conditions do state that you must have received this offer directly from Hilton. So you might want to wait a few weeks to see whether other (untargeted) members are successful.
Stacking Promotions
Because Hilton’s day use rates are treated exactly the same as overnight stays, you could:
- Book one for late 2020 and receive two night credits in both 2020 and 2021 (as well as double points)
- Book one for early 2021 and receive one stay credit (out of the 15 you will need for Diamond)
The Bottom Line
This is a fantastic promotion and I recommend that every InsideFlyer UK reader with interest in Hilton Honors finds a way to book themselves a day use rate before the end of March 2021. 10,000 points are worth at least £30-35, and the elite status credit will get you closer to Gold or Diamond…
