Amex has extended the 50% value boost that Gold cardholders can benefit from when redeeming Membership Reward Points against purchases.
“We’re always looking at ways to say a big ‘thank you’ for your loyalty, so we’re excited to tell you that the current 50% value boost offer has been extended until 21 November.
There’s still time to use your Membership Rewards points to pay for almost any item on your Card statement and get a huge 50% boost to their value. In fact, you can now enjoy this offer until 21 November 2020. So don’t miss out on seeing your points go so much further when you Use Points Towards Purchases.”
The promotion will now run until 21st November, and means that Gold cardholders can continue to get 0.65p per Membership Rewards Point, instead of the 0.45p standard rate.
The opportunity to earn bonus points at a variety of retailers has also been extended too:
“You can still earn additional Membership Rewards points with your Gold Card at the participating popular retailers below. If you haven’t already, simply save the offer to your Card and you’ll get 2 additional points for every £1 you spend at these Cardmember favourites until 21 November 2020, with no limit to the points you can earn.”
Bottom line
In normal times, you should really be looking to get 1p+ of value per Amex Membership Rewards Point. That value usually comes from transfers to airline and hotel programmes though. At the moment, those options might not look so tempting.
Getting 0.65p per Amex Point really isn’t a great deal, but it is effectively instant cash – and that might be useful right now.
Do you think the 100% bonus temporarily offered for Platinum cardholders might make a return too?
